How do Photo Facials work?
Brown spots are usually due to an abnormal concentration of melanin pigment in one area of the skin. This can occur with age, or as a result or over exposure to the damaging rays of the sun. Laser treatments remove the pigmented lesions using light energy. The energy from the light causes the excess pigment to break up. The body then replaces those cells with new cells from the surrounding tissue resulting in a more even skin tone.
How many Photo Facials treatments do I need? How long before I see full results?
The average person requires three to four treatments three weeks apart. Occasionally, more treatments may be needed for certain individuals or conditions. Periodic maintenance treatments may be needed for optimal, lasting results.
How do I prepare for my Photo Facial treatment?
No tanning six weeks before your appointment. Check all medications and topical creams for photosensitivity and stop those two weeks before your treatment. Men, shave your facial hair the day of your appointment if you are wanting your full face treated.
How much do Photo Facials hurt? What should I expect during the procedure?
Each person's pain tolerance can vary. To most people, photo facials feel like a rubber band snap to the skin. Some areas of the face can be more sensitive such as the upper lip and the nose. Our laser uses a cooling tip which helps to make the treatment a more comfortable experience.
How do I care for it after my Photo Facial treatment?
Pigmented and vascular lesions will appear worse for approximately 3 to 7 days and then the areas should begin to fade or flake off over the next two weeks. Don't exfoliate for up to 2 weeks. Avoid unprotected natural and artificial sun exposure. Use a SPF of 30 and moisturizing lotions as needed.
